It was an important lesson about speed that could've had a very different outcome; I'm glad he has learned it the easy way. We were on grid road north of GGFarm with too much loose gravel and he probably overcorrected (10 times) when it grabbed the wheels; there was a lot of fishtailing and eventually he just drove into the ditch and came to a stop. No fenceposts, no water, no approach to hit, no damage to car. We were lucky. And now he is driving nice and slow, and so am I.
