Saturated but oh so Green

The ditch beside our road is now a slough.

Somehow I forgot to mention that a bear was seen in our neighbours' farmyard, which is not even an eighth of a mile north of our place. I should be nervous, but for some reason am not. I guess it's because I didn't see it myself. Bears are a rare sighting around here; I've never seen one.

Also, I assume the dogs will alert me if a bear is near. I never get down the road without the two of them.

After the rains, I was advised to watch Ducky Doodle closely, as the rushing water could sweep him off his feet.

  1. Your casual reference to a bear alarmed me...city-bred, huh.

    1. Lorna, I walked to the end of the driveway (at the other end of which the bear had been seen) and didn't think twice about the bear until I turned to come back and heard something that sounded like ... a growl. I didn't see anything, but it made me think oh, maybe I should be nervous and not acting like everything hasn't changed from now on ... a bear! I don't think it will sink too far in till I see one myself. On the other hand, I have seen two cougars within two miles of here and that changed nothing regarding my walking habits, so ... I really do carry on as if my head is stuck in sand. I hope when I die they won't say that was the story of my life.
