Last Minute Check

This was the scene last Friday afternoon at the news office as some of my co-workers and I looked through the pages one last time before sending them off to press. Gotta make sure all the booked ads are there, and try to catch any unnoticed misspellings or errors.

Left to right: Rita, who does our paginating; me, editor-type; Bev, receptionist.

And here we go again! I'm off out the door shortly.

  1. Love to see a community based newspaper! My in-laws owned and ran a small community newspaper in up-state Michigan, they used to send us a copy every week, even though we live in Canada, and we had no ties to the community other than the in-laws, it was fun to read.

    1. I got the Wadena News for years when I lived in the next province, even though it rarely mentioned anyone I knew, after a while. I still loved it!

  3. I worked for a chain of small papers when I lived in Oregon. I was fill in when ever someone was on vacation or sick. I loved it. The business has sure changed hasn't it. The local paper here is now only about 4 columns wide with maybe 3 pages of news.

    1. The paper here has fewer pages than it used to, too; that said, sometimes we have a heck of a time squeezing everything in.
