Grey Sky Day

Cool rainy days are my favourites now. Not windy cold miserable ones, but the calm ones with a gentle rainfall, the kind that don't turn your house into a cooker if you use the oven. The ones that let you keep your windows open, and you can walk around outside without feeling like passing out from the heat and humidity.

There are serious storm warnings for parts of the province slightly south of us, but so far here it's been a perfect day. I've spent it baking bread and muffins and granola; fast food for a week or three if it gets hot again. Except that I'm getting company and will have to feed her a decent meal once in a while, won't I?

After today's hard labour, it's six o'clock and I'm about to pour myself a glass of red wine and go outside to admire the flowers and let the birds admire me. Maybe my fella will be home soon and keep me company.

  1. A good three quarter inch (20mm?) down this way this morning. Wild wind and lots of rumbling. Sun came out for a bit but now its starting up again with storms this evening. Enough already.

  3. Gary was on his way to Regina for business and was diverted to Brandon. He just called a little while ago and apparently the weather was too bad to land there, so he will be on his way back to Regina later on tonight.

  4. 3 and a half inches since supper and I've been pailing water out of the basement. This is ridiculous.

  5. sweltering weather here. I finally see the advantage of facing north and not getting sun until mid-afternoon.

  6. Just heard on the news that a huge tornado went through southern Manitoba and lasted for hours. No one was hurt.

  7. Lorna, that's the case with our house. Well, we get the sun, but the south-facing bedroom windows are just the right height under the eaves to keep it out of the windows. They are perfect in winter when the sun is lower in the sky.

    1. I'm with you, WWW; rather have to dress warmer than try to keep cool.
