Pop and #1 Child

Dad came over yesterday for an hour or so on his way to have supper with friends, and is leaving this morning on a roundabout route (more folks to visit) back to Kelowna. He's been here about 10 days and is more than ready to return to his own home. I don't blame him. It's good to see people, but it's good to get home, too.

Still, I hate to see him go. I didn't shed a tear, but the old eyes did get a little moist around the edges.

Fortunately it is easy to keep in touch regularly nowadays, with email and texting and cheap long-distance calling. We talk at least once a week.

    1. Ha! That's a new one on me.
Yes, and we both are spittin' images of his mother, I'm told.
My sister Karen looks EXACTLY like our great-grandmother on our mom's side, and that too is really something.

  2. Wow! He's so handsome! You're so beautiful! Great photo. My father is 90 years old. We talk by cell several times each week. His memory is dim - it's like verbal charades, but he has fun with it - puts his ego aside and we have a good chat. I know I'm very lucky to still have him. He's a jolly sort. Lives in Florida where all Long Islanders retire. :)

    1. And that sweettalkin' skill is why YOU are my FAVOURITE, Reenie!
You sure are lucky to still have your dad; I hope I get to have mine around for at least another 20 years, and in good health. I like to imagine what he'll be like by then. Maybe he'll get sweeter as he ages; he's already a pretty pleasant fellow.
