That's how trappers trap animals -- they put something shiny near the trap, and animals will go to see what it is. (Learned this when I worked on a trapping magazine.) I posted this video on FB and someone commented that she has seen a moose react in the same way as the deer, except it was to a turkey that challenged it, but then the moose stomped the turkey to death.
What a hoot! A guard cat! Glad it turned out well for the cat. The warning sounds from the deer came as a surprise, hadn't heard that before. Deer usually run away when they see me coming, or I am passing them at speed on the highway and wouldn't hear anything for the wind.
Thank goodness the moose/turkey incident isn't a video, I wouldn't want to watch it!
I love this!!! Made my day. Cats are so so patient. The deer is so cute and curious. :))

I thought this post was going to be about a cat talking to a deer. Stalking is equally effective.
ReplyDeleteThe deer seemed to be talking to the cat; does that count?
