No Hearts and Flowers

Have you ever heard of "vinegar" valentines?
I hadn't, till today.
Thanks to Librarian Maggie, who is a connoisseur of vintage cards.

For some time it was all the rage to send insulting valentines, not only to your sweetheart but to others with whom you had business dealings or other connections.

  2. Having had the most wonderful Valentine's Day in a while, I am able to smile at, while not condoning, the hate cards.

    1. Good to hear! My day was nice, too. A romantic card on the kitchen table when I got out of bed. A drive with my sweetie. A short visit with my kids when my sweetie suggested taking some ice cream over to them. A supper of steak and potatoes at home. An evening of good television; Sunday nights seem to be decent TV, for a change.
